1938 Jaguar SS100

Chassis 39032

The 1938 Jaguar SS100, with its sleek design and powerful 3.5-liter engine, is often regarded as one of the finest examples of pre-war British sports cars. Originally introduced by Swallow Sidecar, a company founded by William Lyons and William Walmsley in 1922, the SS100 became the pinnacle of performance for what would later evolve into Jaguar Cars. The SS100’s lightweight frame, weighing just 2,610 lbs, paired with its sedan engine, delivered breathtaking performance. Its name hinted at its theoretical top speed of 100 mph, while its 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just 10 seconds was remarkable for its time.

Chassis 39032 was initially sold to a bicycle company before making its way to the United States in 1962. It then became part of the well-known Kenos family’s collection, where it remained for 40 years. After its time with the Kenos family, the car was purchased by K Glendenning, an active Jaguar enthusiast, who entrusted its restoration to Classic Showcase, a specialist in vintage Jaguar models.

In January 2021, Tom and Gwen Price proudly added this remarkable SS100 to their collection. The car’s elegance and performance earned it an invitation to the prestigious 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where it stood as a testament to Jaguar’s legacy and the meticulous care it has received throughout its life.
