1938 Talbot-Lago 150CS Figoni-Falaschi Teardrop Roadster
Chassis 90115
The breathtaking designs of Figoni & Falaschi mark a pivotal era in automotive history, and this 1938 Talbot-Lago 150CS Teardrop Roadster, built on chassis 90115, is one of their most exquisite creations. Figoni’s early commissions for racing cars helped shift the coachbuilder’s reputation toward sportier, more aerodynamic designs. Located near an airfield, Figoni regularly observed aircraft in flight, and the graceful, curved shapes of the planes became a powerful inspiration for his work. This influence is unmistakable in the flowing, aerodynamic lines of his automobiles, which embody both speed and elegance.
Chassis 90115, Figoni factory order #705, was commissioned by M. Catalano of France, featuring a striking metallic blue body with iridescent blue fenders. It was originally built on a short T150CS chassis, designed as a two-seat cabriolet. After World War II, the car’s body was removed and replaced with a race car body for Grand Prix competition. Thankfully, the original body has since been faithfully recreated and reinstalled, while the 1947 race body remains with the car as part of its storied history.
The Price family has proudly showcased this remarkable Talbot-Lago at prestigious events, including the Concours d’Elegance, where it won the Elegance in Motion award and Best in Show at The Quail. In June 2019, the car was also presented at the Concours d’Elegance of Monaco, further solidifying its place as a masterpiece of automotive design and craftsmanship.
