1962 Facel Vega “Facel II”
Chassis A137
The Facel Vega “Facel II” was a French grand touring car produced between 1962 and 1964, marking the brand’s final attempt to create a luxury GT in the grand French tradition. Renowned for its exclusivity and stunning design, only 180 units were ever built, making it a rare and coveted model. The car attracted a glittering list of famous owners, including Pablo Picasso, Joan Collins, Tony Curtis, Christian Dior, Max Factor Jr., Joan Fontaine, Ava Gardner (who owned three), Stirling Moss, Danny Kaye, Princess Grace of Monaco, Yves Montand, King Hassan II of Morocco, Anthony Quinn, Debbie Reynolds, Frank Sinatra, Ringo Starr, Robert Wagner, the Shah of Persia, and the King of Cambodia.
The Facel II was powered by a potent 6.3-liter Chrysler Typhoon V8 engine, producing 390 horsepower. It could reach over 135 mph, with the full four-seater model able to surpass 150 mph, out-accelerating notable rivals such as the Aston Martin DB4, Ferrari 250GT, and Mercedes 300SL Gullwing.
With its blend of power, elegance, and exclusivity, the Facel Vega “Facel II” remains one of the most iconic and luxurious grand touring cars of its era.
