Chassis 1663 GT
The 1962 Ferrari 250 GT California Spider shares its racing pedigree with the legendary 250 GT that triumphed in the Tour de France. With the same competition chassis and a top speed of 140 mph, the California Spider was not only beautiful but thrilling to drive. Its handcrafted body was designed and built by Carrozzeria Scaglietti, the same coachbuilder responsible for many of Ferrari’s competition cars at the time. The California Spider was available in both long-wheelbase (LWB) and short-wheelbase (SWB) versions, each with its own distinct appeal, and many enthusiasts consider it one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever created.
This particular LWB Spider is equipped with a competition engine, transmission, and disc brakes, enhancing both its performance and desirability. The California Spider also gained widespread recognition after its prominent appearance in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, further solidifying its place in popular culture.
Tom and Gwen have enjoyed countless adventures in this stunning car, participating in two California Mille Miglia’s, Christian and Christine’s 2015 tour from Monaco to Provence through Italy and Switzerland, the Peninsula 2017 Nippon Tour, and the 2018 250 TR Rally. Greg and Nick Price also had the pleasure of driving this Spider during the Canadian A8 Tour and the 2018 TR rally, continuing the tradition of sharing the joy of this remarkable car with the family.
